I just remembered something I said when I was 16 or 17, back in "high school", where we were analyzing poems. I hated it but I loved poems.

"It's like dissecting something while it's still alive."

Go past me! I think that's pretty deep... :3
and I'm falling asleep over this poetry analyzing right now so I'll just agree with myself here.

That's funny, because that's almost the exact reason I love poetry--the analyzing and the dissection. I do think I'm missing the point somewhat in picking poetry apart. Like music, it's meant to flow and be absorbed. I think your seventeen year old self was right on the mark.

Still, I so enjoy learning about the different ways people get into things. It just highlights how complex and awesome the human brain is, how diverse.

So yes... this is a thoughtful and though-provoking entry. :)

I do like parts of it, I must confess. But more in the way of "did you notice how it went from being all earthy and heavy into talking about sky and spirit? Omg me neither, but that's pretty cool!" or "I think the wolf represented his mother" etc :P

But teachers tend to start digging and analyzing too much or even in ways that feel wrong, being too stubborn in how they perceive it. A friend of mine back then took a poem by me and presented it. When the teacher started his usual disagreeing, he told him, "Actually, the author agrees with me." XD
